Akari YP1 Pendant Light
Akari
Designed by Noguchi beginning in 1951 and handmade for a half century by the original manufacturer in Gifu, Japan, the Akari paper lanterns are a harmonious blend of Japanese handcraft and modernist form. Vitra’s mesmerising Akari lights are sculptor Isamu Noguchi’s modernist interpretation of Japanese paper lanterns. Today, the iconic collection consists of multiple lightweight table, floor and pendant lights that come in various shapes and sizes. The Akari YP1 Pendant lamp is handcrafted from shoji paper made from the bark of mulberry trees, and is hung with a structure of steel. It’s geometric shape adds interest and warmth to any space.
