From his favourite holiday memories in Copenhagen to watching The Grinch with his siblings to venturing back to his hometown in regional Queensland, we chatted to our team member, Callum about what coming home from the holidays means to him.
What does coming home for the holidays mean to you?
Winding down with family, returning to the nostalgic feeling of familiar sights and comforts of my hometown.
Who do you celebrate the holiday season with?
My parents, siblings and of course my dog.
What do you do for the holiday season?
Most years, I travel back to my family home in regional Queensland. Either spending the day by the pool or heading up the coast to spend time at Moffat Beach.
Do you have any special traditions when you return home for the holidays?
Christmas Eve night, my siblings and I sit down to watch the Grinch and eat endless rum balls.
Is there a particular place in your home that brings back holiday memories?
On a back deck lounger mid-afternoon, with Franklin (my golden retriever) by my side.
What’s a holiday memory that brings you the most joy?
Last year, I was in Copenhagen for Christmas Eve and watched the Tivoli fireworks from my hotel rooftop.
What’s on your dining table for the holiday celebrations?
Lots of fresh seafood, with an endless supply of king prawns. With every meal for the next few days including leftover ham and potato bake.
What is one gift you’re excited to give this year and why?
This year’s Four Pillars Christmas Gin which my Dad and I buy each other every year.
What gift did you choose from the Jardan Holiday Gift Guide? Who is it for and why did you choose it for them?
I chose the Isamu Noguchi Akari 1A table light. It’s for my twin brother. He is about to buy his first home. The Akari is a timeless object that he will be able to take to any future home and remember me every time.
What is your favourite thing about the holiday season?
The time between Christmas and New Year’s where you lose track of the days and hours and go without schedule.
