We caught up with Ross from our Sydney team to find out what coming home for the holiday means to him – from watching his nieces gymnastic routines to cherished moments in the kitchen to listening to his grandma’s stories.
Who do you celebrate the holiday season with?
I celebrate with my immediate family, close friends, and my chosen family. Each person adds a unique flavour to the celebration, making it diverse and memorable. It's a time when we all come together, regardless of how busy life gets throughout the year.
Do you have any special traditions when you return home for the holidays?
Yes, we have cherished traditions that make our celebrations special. One of my favourites is preparing traditional family dishes that have been passed down through generations. We gather in the kitchen, laughing and sharing stories – it’s not just about the food; it’s about the memories we create in the process. The kitchen is really the heart of the home – it’s where we come together to exchange food, recipes, stories and make new memories.
What’s on your dining table for the holiday celebrations?
A lot of delicious food! Being Greek, there's a mix of fresh and cooked traditional food, alongside modern twists on favourites. The table is colourful and vibrant, reflecting our heritage, and it becomes a gathering point for everyone to enjoy each other's company over a shared meal.
What is one gift you’re excited to give this year and why?
I’m always especially excited to give gifts to my nieces. Their genuine excitement and reactions make gift-giving truly special to me. I love watching their eyes light up with joy and anticipation, knowing that I’ve chosen something special for them. It’s a simple but profound reminder of the joy of giving.
What gift did you choose from the Jardan Holiday Gift Guide? Who is it for and why did you choose it for them?
The Clover Vessel by Alice Gavalet – it’s truly unique piece that’s both sculptural and fun. This gift is for my parents – the perfect addition to their home and show-stopper piece that will complete their renovation.
What is your favourite thing about the holiday season?
My favourite aspect of the holiday season is the sense of togetherness it brings. There’s something truly special about gathering around the table, sharing laughter, traditions, and delicious food. It reminds us of what truly matters in life: connection, love, food and creating lasting memories.
