Spotted Gum
Oil
Spotted Gum is a plantation hardwood, typically grown in coastal areas from Victoria’s northern border through to southern Queensland. A beautiful natural timber that will respond to the external environmental conditions, our Spotted Gum will gradually transform in the outdoors. This timber ranges from pale to dark brown in colour, often with a distinctive wavy grain.
Please be advised that timber is a natural material with grain detail, colour and finishes subject to variation. Additionally, solid timber will be more susceptible to movement in warmer climates. All of our timber adheres to Forestry Certification Standards.
Care
Spotted Gum is a hard wearing timber which is recommended for use in an outdoor setting. However, timber is still susceptible to the elements. In particular, the tone of the timber will alter over time with exposure to UV light and timber leaching may occur. We recommend covering timber products that are located outside to increase the longevity of the product. We also recommend gently sanding the surface and applying a UV-stable exterior grade oil such as decking oil every six months.
We recommend you avoid extreme variation in temperature and humidity as well as contact with liquids and heat. Regularly wipe timber to remove dust and dirt. Do not leave liquid to sit on timber surfaces as it will penetrate and may cause staining. Wipe up spills immediately with a damp cloth.
Please Note
Whilst every effort has been made to ensure the colours depicted on our website of materials and products accurately reflect the way they appear in person, Jardan advises that there may be variation between these due to a combination of factors including computer monitor, screen settings and lighting as well as a level of true variation in the products themselves. We work with many natural materials as well as handmade artisan products where a level of variation is to be expected and celebrated. It is therefore recommended that you view products in person prior to ordering where possible, or request swatches and additional information from our sales teams.
